Dear Chutzpanim,
There have been extremely heavy rains in Tel Aviv closing the major freeway that runs alongside a normally dry river, Ayalon.
On the way back from Tel Aviv University today, we passed the river Yarkon that borders the city on the north. You can see how flooded the river is. Normally the pylons on the southern end are attached to a visible dock, a meter or so above the water, but it's completely submerged at this point.

There have been some deaths associated with driving in the storms, so don't be a Chutzpan when it comes to safety comrades!
Update 6:35 PM (IST) 8-1-13: We had a power outage in northern Tel Aviv that lasted around 10 minutes. My Shiksa continues to play words with friends. There seem to be some power outages throughout the country.
