Massive winds have brought sand and pollution to Israel. The weather literally says "Dust."Soon the rains will come and make our lives a lot better!
The next day the dust storm is still going on... Here's overlooking the university train station:
The view from my balcony last night was even more tragic:
On a normal day, it's quite a beautiful view:
Our table, which we had cleaned this weekend could now function as a sandbox:Thanks for reading! Sauce
During the spring in Tel Aviv, sandstorms blow in from the Sahara causing loss of visibility, breathing problems and general dustiness. This is why Tel Aviv is known as The Dusty City! This morning we had beautiful clear blue skies, but once again we were cursed by the Israelite's angry and jealous god, who darkened the heavens by scraping the dust from his hairy vagina. Cursed be thy name!
The Tel Aviv Port (Namal in Hebrew) is a great place to go on your weekends! While most of Tel Aviv restaurants and grocery stores remain open on Friday afternoon through Saturday (Shabbat), retail stores, pharmacies and the large open air Carmel Market, Shuk HaCarmel, are closed vis-a-vis theocratic decree. Enter the Tel Aviv Port - sort of a Red Light District for Israelis - but instead of sex clubs, there are cafes, restaurants, retail outlets, a pharmacy and a Shuk, a market. Such a moral decay will surely lead the chosen people to yet another exile you say!! Well, we should have fun in the mean time!
This Friday we saw a band playing music with the famous Israeli singer, Laila Malcos. She sings Latin music in Spanish.
This grandma was having a great time dancing! Here's a video of her rockin' out:
Here is Laila Malcos:
A large crowd of people had assembled:
They are pretty good at dancing in Israel:
Here is a young Bongo-Yeshiva student:
But no had nearly as much passion as Grandma:
The Tel Aviv Port is still being built, but is much closer to being finished. It has a beautiful boardwalk along the sea:
You can see the pristine Tel Aviv coastline:
It gets crowded on the weekends though:
Lots of planes fly by, landing at the nearby Sde-Dov airport:
Chutzpanim park their cars everywhere...
The Tel Aviv Port Market is mostly covered, located at the north end of the port:
It's called Shuk HaNamal in Hebrew:
The building is inspired by European closed roof markets like in Barcelona:
You can get fancy drinks there:
Fruit smoothies for all the Yankee tourists:
Oh and Olives!
Some non-Kosher delights! Enjoy sweet decadence of pork!!! What's the wurst that will happen?
Olives are delicious in Israel!
Fresh Dolma- stuffed grape leaves, with rice peppers, etc. My wife refers to them as Zong Zi though.
Beautiful fruits and veggies await...
A really large selection of mushrooms too!
And artesanal goofy-looking hipster tomatoes:
Still fruits and veggies always look great:
It's a much smaller place and more bourgeois than Shuk HaCarmel:
What???? Non-orange carrots??? The Dutch will be FURIOUS!!!!
Radishes too!
Shuk HaNamal is a good place to go for a date.
Thanks for reading, my dear Chutzpanim! Enjoy your Shabbat any way you deem fit!
