Dear Chutzpanim,
I was lucky enough to go to a Macabbi Tel Aviv basketball game a while back... The best part was the cheerleaders of course! Here they are dancing to the hit song, Gangnam Style:
The Macabbis played Macabbi Rishon LeZiyyon, a sort of suburb outside of Tel Aviv. Basically all of the sports teams started off as different youth sports clubs, that eventually grew into the professional teams. Often these youth groups had political affiliations such as Hapoel (meaning worker, carrying socialist connotations), and Beitar, a secular fascist organization.
Enjoy Towarzyszu!
